I have the feeling i lost 2 years of my life. My life is crumbling down, and i'm sick of it. My parents, even though they are saying the contrary, aren't as proud as they used to be, because they don't understand why i'm doing this. My health is also getting worse, because i sleep a lot less than before to play videogames, and i skip some meals to play at videogames. I pretty much lost the few friends i had in real life, because they stopped playing videogames, while i didn't. My next exam period is in 1 week, and i'm totally not prepared. The program directors are almost ready to kick me out of the program considering how lazy i am with my studies. Last session, i failed my first exam in med school. Now, i,m watching about 50 hours of videos related to videogames on Youtube per week, and i play about 40 hours of videogames per week. It's been like this for the past 2 years. Up to the point where i watched even more Sc2 and LoL than i played. I also started watching the pro players playing my favorite videogames on Twitch and Youtube a lot. I stopped going out, and i pretty much stayed in my appartment when i didn't have school, playing videogames. Unfortunatly, the more things i had to do, the more i wanted to play videogames. It was becoming harder at school, the things to do accumulated. The more i wanted to stop, the harder it became. That's when it started to become a very big problem. I even promised myself i would stop playing videogames. I was really sad, and i tried to change things during the next session. After 2 months, i played 60 hours a week of videogames in a program where you are supposed to study 60hours/week. My friends were playing those games and i didn't have any rules to follow anymore. I like med school, but i liked videogames so much more. But, the more time passed by, the more i played videogames. but the videogames had so much more to offer, i couldn't resist. Since i couldn't bring my PS3 with me, i started looking for other videogames i could play on my cpu. For the first time, my parents weren't there, so i could pretty much play videogames as much as i wanted. Long story short, i was really happy with my life until i got to univervisty.įor the first time, i had my own appartment. Luckily, i had to follow my parents rules concerning my usage of my PS3, so i didn't spend that much time on videogames overall. So i spent pretty much all my nights playing with them until i got to university. Those guys helped me a lot with my self-confidence. ![]() I met some incredible people playing at 3rd person shooters, and i actually was able to develop my social skills. Sadly, this hides a terrible situation which i'm having more and more difficulties dealing with. It has already been 2 years since i started studying medecine and i act as a pretty self-confident guy in general. If you met me in real life, you probably wouldn't even think i'm addicted to videogames. ![]() ![]() No Overall, our trip to Blackpool for 2021 was lush! The kids all loved it, as did Fred. The race starts in the heart of Blackpool and follows a scenic route along the Promenade, passing iconic landmarks such as the Blackpool Tower, the Pleasure Beach, and the lively amusement arcades. Heading home should be simple, we’ve done the journey so many times, but it wasn’t! In true Blackpool style the weather was treacherous on the Sunday and it turned into quite an ordeal – one that thankfully, I can laugh about now, so I’ll share with you in another blog! They were all happy and content, as were Fred and I. We had breakfast on the pier and the overall consensus was that although the pier breakfast was good, we all much preferred the Solaris in Blackpool! Chunk won himself 2 Stitch teddies on the grabber and between them the children won a host of tickets for trading at the booth. The following day we headed into Lytham for a couple of hours before it was time to head home. ![]() ![]() The boys and I went off to spend an hour with my Nan and her husband – always so so good to see my Nanny, and the boys love her as much as I do. By the time we had all eaten, the illuminations were on and so we walked and trammed along the front some more to enjoy them all. We took a walk up to the tower and across comedy carpet before hopping on a tram back up to the Pleasure Beach to get some fish and chips in Pablos. After a couple of hours (and a few requests for more pound coins!) they returned with little gifts for everyone – keyrings and fiddle toys, chewy sweets and little statues! Smiles all round □ Fred and I grabbed a warm drink and the kids went off to collect tokens and ride the aerial pirate ships in Coral Island. We soon ducked into an arcade to penny push and avoid the wind for a bit. The wind was madness! We could lean into the wind and not fall over, it was crazy!!! Definitely theworst I’ve ever known it at Blackpool! We were getting sandblasted the whole walk – Fred and H were grateful they had glasses on I think, as Chunk and I took shelter behind them whilst walking along!! ![]() We ate breakfast – so delicious! Hands down the best fry up if ever you’re up that way, and great value too! I lent Fred’s daughter a spare scarf I’d bought with me and then we headed off along the front. We met Fred and the kids in the café and I think the penny was starting to drop on how cold it was going to be on the Blackpool front, and why I’d been banging on about it for so long! In the short walk from the car to the café the boys and I concluded this was, hands down, the windiest we have ever known Blackpool and had a chuckle to ourselves. As we passed reception we were advised not to take any back roads into Blackpool as there were numerous reports of trees being blown over, so we took the main road into Blackpool – off to the Solaris for a full fry up to see us through the day. We got tucked up for the night, and then were up bright and early to head into Blackpool on Saturday morning. ![]() They bought coats, but not particularly warm ones, no scarves, I think one pair of clothes and maybe one hat – but certainly not enough to brave Blackpool weather! They were still all laughing at me and the boys, not believing us when we said that Blackpool cold was a different cold! We took separate cars to the hotel and Fred arrived before me and the boys, when we got there Freds son was sat in the room in shorts……shorts!! And his daughter had packed a skirt and little slip on shoes. In the weeks leading up to the trip I reminded both Fred and his two (17 and 19) that Blackpool was going to be cold, and not like a normal cold, a proper Northern cold, so wrap up warm!! Bring coats, and scarves, hats and gloves – proper warm clothing! They nodded and agreed every time I mentioned it, but also had a little laugh out how much I was reiterating how cold it would be – more fool them! This year was a little different, with the introduction of Fred into our lives we decided to take him and his children with us and share with them the illuminations and Blackpool experience! Neither Fred nor his children had ever been to Blackpool, nor had they seen the illuminations, so we booked a couple of hotel rooms and set the date for the end of November. The boys and try to see the illuminations every year, there was a small window where we didn’t get up when Chunk was very young, but apart from that we go up at least once a year. ![]() ![]() ![]() It also symbolizes how much his worldview has matured thanks to it.
